John Drake

Having trained as a biochemist to the level of post-graduate doctorate, John Drake realised he wasn’t much good at science. In 1975, he got a job with ICI Pharmaceuticals in drug registration and licensing, before ending up in the TV production unit. it was here that John found his most satisfying work thus far, working with a talented team of TV professionals as the video producer and anchorman for PharmaVision, a live TV broadcast service. When John eventually left in 1999, it was to become a full-time writer. His hobbies and interests include muzzle-loaded shooting, history and politics. ‘Flint and Silver’ was inspired by the many unanswered questions left by Robert Louis Stevenson’s much-loved classic, ‘Treasure Island’.
