Congratulations #SlaughterSquad! Your pre-orders of AFTER THAT NIGHT have unlocked the third and final exclusive extract from the book – enjoy!
He said, “If you do the recording, that’s not for me. It’s so when you’re in the moment, you can focus on what Sloan’s saying, not on trying to memorize everything that comes out of her mouth. You can erase it afterward if you want. I’m just trying to help take off some of the stress. The last few days have been a lot.”
“They’ve been a lot for you, too.” She stroked back his hair. “I’m sorry I dragged you into this.”
“I’m sorry that Mason won’t help you.” His jaw was set again. “Even if he’s not involved, he knows something’s going on, and he’s choosing to look the other way.”
“Don’t worry about him. He knows I’m taken.”
“I’m not worried about him.” Will’s jaw told a different story. “Did he make fun of your ring?”
“He made fun of me for being a badge bunny.” Sara stroked her fingers along the side of his face. “And I told him that you have an enormous cock and I can’t get enough of it.”
His lips twitched in a smile. “Saint Sara. Always has to tell the truth.”
Sara smiled back, because he had no idea. She gave him a quick kiss on the mouth, then said, “Download the recording app. Show me how it works.”
Will picked up her personal phone from the kitchen counter. Sara watched his hands as he entered her password to install the app. Three years ago, she had daydreamed about kissing him, but the thing that had really gotten her was the first time Will had held onto her hand. He’d stroked her fingers with his thumb, and Sara had felt such a rush of heat that she’d had to go to the bathroom to splash cold water on her face. Finishing the rest of her shift had been a hardship.
He said, “I can go with you to New York if you want. Hang out on the street. I’m sure there’s a park.”
“No, I’ve got this.”
“I know you do.” He glanced up from the phone. “But I’m here if you need me.”
Sara felt a sudden swell of emotion. This was the miracle of her recovery. She trusted with every fiber of her being that Will would always be there.
As usual, he picked up on her mood. “You okay?”
Sara nodded. “With the app, does the transcription save to the cloud?”
“I backed it up to your Google Drive, so if you want to erase it, check there, too.” He handed back the phone. “I programmed the button on the side. Press it twice to start the recording.”
Sara pressed twice. The thin red line started spooling like a bad ECG. “What if I want to stop it?”
He placed his hand over hers and tapped the button twice again. Then he let his fingers lightly trace along her arm. She could feel her skin reacting to his touch. He was leaning down, their faces close. Sara’s heart did that familiar little flip when his lips brushed against hers. The scar above his mouth still felt just as electric as she had imagined.
His hands moved to her hips. “When do you have to leave?”
She looked at his watch. She had ten minutes. “Just enough time to tell you goodbye.”
“How are you going to tell me goodbye?”
“With my mouth.”
Will gave her a deep, sensual kiss. She started unbuttoning his pants. He started to unpin her hair. They both froze at the sound of a firm knock on the front door.
He said, “I’m gonna kill your sister.”
“Don’t move. I’ll get rid of her.”
Sara was trying to think of the fastest way to get rid of Tessa without embarrassing the hell out of Will when she opened the door.
But it wasn’t Tessa who’d knocked.
